"The fact that both sides [Iran and the U.S.] are meeting in the same location, this is a major development. Both sides have not sat down for decades since the last nuclear deal that was agreed to under President Obama," said the Ford School's Javed Ali. Speaking with ABC News, Ali shared just how monumental it is that Iran and the U.S. have agreed to meet for a discussion on nuclear weapon deals. Ali added that "The goal [for the conversation] is very high, the objective is high, but it's going to be tough sledding between the US and Iran, and perhaps other countries, to get to that objective." The goal, as Ali believes, of the meeting is to attain a permanent nuclear weapons deal between the countries.
